The Road to 100 Marathons
Langport LDWA Marathon 8th June 2013 Number Three
This was to be a training run for the Wessex Runners, a four man team taking part in Trailwalker. This is an Oxfam event over the South Downs (more on this later).
The Long Distance Walkers Association (LWDA) hold events up and down the country that are low key events but excellent marathons for runners that they like to get some trail running in. Very cheap to enter and some navigation is required. The only down side is no medal or T-Shirt and sometimes no electronic results.
Trail Marathons are normally well over the distance of a Marathon and the terrain can be very hilly and mostly off road. The Langport Marathon takes in the Somerset Levels so can be flooded sometimes.
